Content Marketing Blind Spots

Brands are producing more and more content, but it’s not necessarily always high quality or always attaining better results. There are many blind spots to marketing and if they are missed, it leads to weakened engagement. Here are some of those blindspots:

  • Treating Content as Single-Use: You may think that content can only be used for one thing and that is a mistake. One blog post could end up being 10 social snippets, an email segment, an infographic, and so much more. You should look at every piece of content as raw material that can be repurposed into other things.
  • Overcomplicating the Brand Voice: Most brands try too hard to sound professional which makes the content feel generic. You should try to make your content sound like a real person, feel spoken to, and keep a consistent tone through content and platforms.
  • Forgetting About Distribution: A great piece of content won’t do anything if no one sees it. You should focus 40% of your time on content and 60% of your time on distribution. You should push your content on social media, email, communities, groups, and any other media you can. Visibility is everything in marketing.
